(1911-95) a US dancer and film actress who made many ↑musical films, often with the dancer Fred Astaire. Her films include 42nd Street (1933) and Top Hat (1935).

(1933- ) a British ↑architect (=someone who designs buildings) , born in Italy. His buildings are very modern, and are famous for having pipes etc on the outside. He is especially known for his work on the Pompidou Centre in Paris and for buildings in London, especially the Lloyd's Building.

Rogers, Roy
(1912-98) a US film and television actor and singer who usually appeared as a ↑cowboy. He is best known for the 1950s television programme The Roy Rogers Show, in which he appeared with his wife Dale Evans (1912-2001) and his horse Trigger. At the end of the programme they always sang the song Happy Trails to You.

Rogers, Will
(1879-1935) a US humorous writer and performer. Rogers sometimes told jokes while spinning a ↑lasso (=a rope with one end tied in a circle) and often used jokes to criticize politicians. He was known for his short, clever, funny sayings, such as "I don't make jokes - I just watch the government and report the facts."
